photography

“What makes photography a strange invention is that its primary raw materials are time and light.”

— john berger

Photography is a pursuit that both informs and enriches my painting practice.

Still images are, in fact, where my visual arts and storytelling journey began - from around three years old there hasn’t been a chapter of my life where a stills camera wasn’t a part of the picture.

From photographing this planet’s beautiful topography to portraits of my garden’s smallest visitors, what I care most about is capturing the scale of my subject and its intrinsic awe, which happens to also be why I paint vast, awesome cosmic landscapes. The two endeavours - for me at least - are indelibly connected by the invisible thread of awe.
